Traffic trial starts at scene of train-bus-car smash
A new traffic strategy is being trialled to improve safety at a level crossing in Adelaidewhere four people died in a train, bus and car smash.
South Australian Transport Minister MICHAEL WRIGHT says the six-week trial is one ofseveral strategies recommended in a report on the October crash at Salisbury in Adelaide'snorth.
He says traffic patterns and driver behaviour will be monitored via video cameras ina bid to better synchronise road and rail systems to avoid queues forming at the crossing.
Soon after the October accident involving the Ghan passenger train, a metropolitanbus and a car, buses were rerouted and train speed limits at crossings were reduced.
